With so many of you in the midst of wedding planning, I wanted to pop in here and offer some wedding ceremony floral arch ideas. Don’t underestimate the importance of the altar backdrop for your wedding—it’s one of the first things that guests see as they enter your ceremony space and can help set the tone for the rest of the event. As a photographer, I can tell you that it makes a huge difference in how your ceremony photos turn out, since it’s the backdrop for so many of your wedding pictures. Arches can have cultural and religious significance, and can be made with many different shapes and materials. Here, we’ll be looking at a few wedding ceremony floral arches that have stood out to me throughout my years of photographing weddings:

One creative take on the wedding ceremony floral arch is to make it a full circle. Circles are symbolic in weddings, as the continuous loop represents eternity (hence the shape of wedding rings). As we see here in this wedding, an added bonus is that the arch can be repurposed as decoration for your sweetheart table at the reception, or as part of the backdrop if you decide to have a photo shoot area for guests.

This classic seaside wedding incorporated touches of ombre to make their ceremony space truly special (though of course, having the ocean in the background doesn’t hurt!). The billowy curtains added some natural movement to the arch, and they purposely applied restraint to the amount of florals in the arch itself to allow for that.

The wedding ceremony floral arch doesn’t necessarily have to be in the shape of an arch either (especially in the case of, say, a chuppah or a mandap). Check out this gorgeous hanging floral installment. Since the gazebo at this Chinese Wedding at Pelican Hill already had arch outlines, we were able to be a little creative and hang our flowers and decor from the ceiling to really liven up the structure.

I hope these wedding ceremony floral arch ideas gave you some inspiration for working with your florist to create something that will set your wedding apart and bring it to the next level. And if you’re still in need of a photographer, contact me! I’d love to meet you and discuss how we can make your dream wedding day come to life!
